Lately…
…we have been settling in to our new place. The hustle and bustle of moving has taken my attention away from the blessing of it all, unfortunately. I can tell because I haven’t been taking pictures and I’m NEVER too busy to stop and snap a picture. But we’re nearly there and the blank canvas of a new home is always exciting, most of all. Things are finding their places. We are finding our footing and our pace, again. Every day the place looks a little more like home.
Things I’m looking forward to:
1. Having friends over for dinner and music making.
2. Planting a veggie garden.
3. Walking Eliot to school next year! (can’t believe it!)
4. Having birthday parties here!

Daily Life
I’m going to be challenging myself to capture pieces of our daily lives around here. Sometimes there will be a story to go with the image, sometimes not.
Oliver is on the move now. He’s rolling and scooting and started sitting himself up in his cradle, which means his itty-bitty days are gone and it’s time he graduates to the next stage of baby gizmos. As exciting as all this growing is, I still wish I could keep him small for just a little while longer.
Amongst the Flowers: Baby Jane
One of my favorite things about being a photographer is when I get the opportunity to photograph kids over time. And one of my favorite subjects to photograph is the special bond between parents and their little ones. So, this session just makes my day. Baby Jane just gets sweeter each time I see her. It’s always a treat!

Sequoia and Kings Canyon
Back in April we took our first little trip as a family of four. It was wonderfully chaotic, as to be expected. Rain was in the forecast, but to our surprise it snowed! Of course, we didn’t pack for that, nor did we have chains (and they are damn expensive!), but we adapted pretty well and enjoyed the adventure after the initial feelings of, “Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!!,” subsided. It was good to be small next to the giant Sequoias and to breathe in the cool mountain air. And, as always, it was fun running around with Eliot. He tends to throw all caution to the wind so I always have two choices: either stress the hell out all the time or roll with it and enjoy the ride. The latter is almost always the better choice. 🙂 Oliver was chill, even after all that driving (which he absolutely despises!). My kiddos are my best teachers sometimes.
Let them run wild…

Happy Birthday Aunt Ellen!
Oliver: 10 weeks
This was taken while we were waiting for the staff at the Grant Grove Restaurant to notice our hungry faces. Helllooo??? Does nothing get your attention? Not even an adorable baby??? Erik then informed me that the terrible service probably has something to do with everybody working for the federal government. The federal government moves for no one. Not even adorable babies. Lesson learned.
